Is it ironic that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and God’s word are similar? CBT helps an individual change unhelpful thinking and behavior through the process of changing our thoughts. It is that simple and that complicated.
However, God has also told us that when we worry we are essentially rehearsing our troubles. When we rehearse our troubles we increase our own personal suffering. (Not so unlike the person who worries in the therapists office increasing their anxieties). God tells us, let it go and give it to Him. Rest in His peace.
I can speak from personal experience when I say they both work. However, Resting in God’s Peace is a wonderful added perk.
