One Last Time

It is too late to barter
and much too late to plead
plans changed in a moment
forget about the need.

Oh how I longed to see you
knowing we were short on time
to lay my eyes upon you
O’ dear brother of mine.

One last shot at laughter
or at least to share a smile
would I have time to get there
to sit with you a while.

Life presented other plans
swiftly passing in the night
your pain has finally subsided
as you moved towards the light.

One last time to see you
was not meant to be
until we can meet again
I’ll cling to memories.
