Sunday Morning

DSCN1037
Seagulls cluster
bobbing on the ocean’s surface,
absorbing the sun’s rays
on this mild winter’s day.

Passing vehicles,
the distant drone of radios
feels like an intrusion,
disturbing the tranquility
of the moment.

Pages being turned
an elderly man catching up on the daily news
as a woman beckons to her child,
who, in his excitement and wonder
has wandered too far for a mother’s comfort.

Various onlookers
stop and gaze through the lenses of cameras,
attempting to capture
the beauty that surrounds us.

As I look and listen
I reflect upon my life
realizing, yet again, how blessed I am
to be engulfed
by God’s power, presence, and peace.
